Hockey

Here are the much anticipated photo's of my wife the bravest women I know. In case any of you do not know Anna has decided that this year is the year that she was going to play hockey. She has always wanted to learn and has been fascinated by the sport but a certain female parental figure had always told her that she was not hockey material. All these years she had thought that because that maternal figure had said that she could never do it. Well this year she made up her mind to change her life and to make sure that no matter what she would show her sons and daughter that anyone any size and any gender could do anything that they put their mind to do. I have never been prouder and as inspired by someone in my life. She had skated a little when she was younger. Anna wanted to do this by her self (I think to fully conquer her demons) so she went to sport king while I was sleeping and went in announced to the owner that she was a full figured mother of three that knew nothing about hockey and didn't no any of the equipment besides skates but she was going to play this year and anything that he could do for her she would appreciate it. What she didn't know was that some of the players from the minor league Fairbanks hockey team the "Ice Dogs" were employed at Sport King. She had 4 young hockey players on her within 30 seconds and asking her all questions they had her outfitted in full pads and she had a player on each foot putting her skates on with one taping a stick and one running for more pads. In Anna's words they were "Fuc*ing Hot" and they just kept on telling her how impressed they were with her courage. She decided to go to hockey camp that the local Women's League puts on and last Monday while I was at my first Microbiology class she was preparing to go to the ice rink and learn about hockey. We had already gone through and did a prerun at putting all the pads on , it was at this time she called Andi and asked her to go with her since I had class. Monday at 1930 Andi and Anna rolled into the ice rink and 30 minutes later with the help from 4 other women to put all the pads on, Anna skated onto the ice after three feet she turned around looked at Andi and hugged the boards the end of the class (about an hour) the teacher told her that she was already a 100% better. and unbeknowst to Anna she skated across the middle of the ice and off.She is so much better already and I could not be prouder.

I have tried to leave a comment or two, but it keeps not accepting them... maybe it had to do with being at work??? ANYWAY!

WAY TO GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!
I am so sorry I missed supporting you. But look at that smile! It looks like you were perhaps a smidge proud of yourself as well as the rest of us! AND YOU SHOULD BE! I think it'd be scary. Like- We're older now, not ancient by any means, but its not like when you are a kid and fall.... Anna- this is fantastic! Cheers to you! I'll help you lace those skates anytime- I know it won't be the same as the ice dogs, but I can talk dirty to you if you want...

Anna, you look HOT in all your gear. I absolutely love that you are "going for it" ~it creates good karma, which probably explains how the cosmos were with you when you went to buy all your gear. I could just picture it now: two &^*&^&*^ing hot professional hockey players at your feet putting on your skates while the mananger throws free stuff at you. Ommmmmmmmmmmmm.

You give "you go girl" new meaning! Just want to tell you to keep your elbows tucked though... I had a little "mis-hap" sunday that involved a fence, a manure spreader and Gunner and now sport an arm brace that looks and feels like it SHOULD be hockey gear! Fully dislocated elbows aren't a lot of fun, but having horses or playing hockey are, so you just keep on keepin' on. I have one hand clapping!!!!!!!!
